Trains from Makhachkala to Khasavyurt and Derbent to be launched on May 1

The Dagestani Agency for Transport and Roads held a council yesterday, attended by Andrey Lesnichenko, the head of the North Caucasus Suburban Passenger Company, RIA Dagestan reports.


Zagid Khuchbarov, the head of the Agency, noted that suburban trains were primarily servicing social routes which were mainly used by pensioners and students. Lesnichenko proposed to conduct an assessment of losses in 2011-2013 and sign an agreement depending on the figures.


Concluding the council, the officials decided to launch the Makhachkala-Khasavyurt and Makhachkala-Derbent trains on May 1, 2015.


Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the government that the train problem in 22 regions, including Dagestan, should be rectified.
