Last year Moldova, together with Georgia and Ukraine, signed the association agreement with the EU. It required the establishment of a deeper and overall free trade area. However, not only the weak economy, but also the instable political situation could be obstacles on Kishinev’s path to ‘the united European family.’ A few days ago in Kishinev a wide-scale protest took place. Its participants criticized the pro-European government, demanding strict measures against oligarchs – the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Vladimir Filat, and the Democratic Party, Vladimir Plakhotnyuk.

In this context, the leader of the Moldovan party Our Party, Renato Usatiy, is about to take part in local elections which are to be held on the 14th of June. Last year, for the first time in the history of modern Moldova, his party was barred from participating in parliamentary elections two days before the voting. Usatiy is being blackmailed by representatives of the Moldovan authorities.

At a press conference in Moscow, Usatiy said that the local elections which will take place on the 14th of June in Moldova “will be one of the decisive battles for the protection of the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova”: “In recent years, we have observed the propaganda of unionism, Western values. You know that I respect all citizens of Moldova. Moldova is a multinational country, where Russians, Ukrainians, Moldavians, Romanians and Gagauzes live. But the current government is trying to split society, and our task is to consolidate it.”

“Today, Western politicians of the first echelon are arriving in Moldova, for example, Donald Tusk, who supports the current government. In principle, his dithyrambs mean that he supports the crimes that have been committed by the authorities up to the present time. For example, fraud, due to which more than one billion dollars was stolen in Ukraine. It is a huge sum of money for Moldova. Thus, when such politicians as Tusk support them, they incite the authorities to commit new crimes,” Usatiy thinks.

“Today we should cancel the agreement which has been signed between Moldova and the EU. We should organize a referendum. First of all, we should explain to people what the Eurasian Economic Union is and what European integration for Moldovan citizens mean,” Usatiy told RIA Novosti. According to the politician, today there is a disastrous situation over exporting in Moldova.

“I will be a candidate for the post of the mayor of the town of Beltsy. And my main position: I return to Moldova with the following slogan: "You decide, we do." And the main point: if we want to get rid of evil, we should sow the seeds of good,” Usatiy thinks.
