UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged the world community to join efforts in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

"With the development of modern society, we regret to observe the growth of such undesirable phenomena as terrorism, extremism and hatred. This is a real cancerous tumor on the body of our society," Tass quotes him as saying.

"We must fight these phenomena with maximum solidarity and unity. Without these we cannot defeat this disease, but without solving the problem, we will not be able to maintain the prosperity of the world," the UN Secretary General stated.

"What is the reason for such phenomena today? This occurs when society is not based on the rule of law, respect for human rights and dignity, when there is no dialogue or sense of belonging. Of course, you should by all means fight these terrible events. However, we must first identify the causes of this phenomena," he said.
