Ban Ki-moon discusses solution to crisis in Ukraine with Putin

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin further steps to resolve the crisis in Ukraine and the role of the world organization in the process. The Secretary General also thanked the Russian leader for the invitation to the celebration of Victory Day.

"The Secretary-General and President Putin discussed in detail further steps on the situation in Ukraine, agreeing that the full and faithful implementation by all the parties of sets of measures to implement the Minsk Agreements offers the best opportunity for a peaceful settlement of the conflict. The Secretary-General and President Putin exchanged views on the UN involvement in this process," RIA Novosti cites the press service of the world organization.

The press service also said that during  the meeting the situation in Syria was discussed, as well as "Russia's contribution to peacekeeping operations, and the fight against climate change."
