Plane to Frankfurt makes emergency landing at Istanbul airport

A plane on its way to Frankfurt has made an emergency landing at the airport of Istanbul.

According to the Anadolu news agency, with reference to a source in the aviation industry, today a Lufthansa LH-1305 made an emergency landing at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul soon after takeoff due to a warning about a bomb on board.

Michael Lamberti, representative of Lufthansa, said the crew members heard a strange sound in the cargo compartment, because of which they decided to return to the airport. ‘‘When the plane touched down, it was discovered that one part of the cargo compartment was not secured well,’’ RIA Novosti quotes the representative of the company.

The plane was flying from Istanbul to Frankfurt. It is reported that the correct number of passengers were on board. 

According to the Hurriyet Daily, after a search and inspection the airliner continued its scheduled flight.
