UN Special Rapporteur on child trafficking to visit Armenia on May 12-18

The UN Special Rapporteur on child trafficking, child prostitution and child pornography, Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, will visit Armenia on May 12-18.

"I look forward to assessing the progress made and challenges faced by Armenia regarding the sale and sexual exploitation of children in all its forms.I will reach out to child victims and children in vulnerable situations to take their opinions into account in my recommendations to the Government and other concerned parties," RIA Novosti cited Buquicchio as saying.

During her seven-day mission, the expert will meet with representatives of the executive, legislative and judicial branches at the national and local level. She will also meet with members of civil society and NGOs who work on child protection issues, and visit childcare centres and shelters in Yerevan, Vanadzor and Gyumri.
