“… I was really impressed by the visit to Chengdu… I think Chengdu looks like New York – it is a modern city with a very high tourist potential, following international standards.”

“Huge skyscrapers are everywhere in Chengdu; amazing Szechuan starters can be bought anywhere; I was excited by walking down Chengdu's streets.”

“The pandas are so cute in Chengdu; I didn’t want to leave the city!”

In April 2015, one of the most promising cities of Szechuan, a modern metropolis of an international level – Chengdu – attracted Russian journalists. The Migration Department of Szechuan invited journalists of six major Russian media on April 25-28th to visit Chengdu for four days to make independent reports on the basis of their own conclusions about the socio-economic development of Szechuan and its trade and economic partnership with Russia.

Journalists visited the Research Base for Reproduction of Pandas, where they fed the world-famous pets of Chengdu; learned about the rich history and culture of Szechuan; interviewed a custodian of the Base for Reproduction of Pandas in detail; learned about the modern technologies which are used at the base.

“This is my first visit to Chengdu and China. And this is first time I have seen a panda so close. Pandas are so cute!” a Russian journalist shouted. Along with the unforgettable impressions from meeting the pandas, the journalist was amazed by the city of Chengdu, its modern and convenient environment where people live. “Before I came here, I had heard a lot exciting things about the city. But Chengdu has exceeded all my expectations. There are many high supermodern buildings; the streets are broad and clean, like in the best capitals of the world. I think Chengdu looks like New York – it is a modern city with a very high tourist potential, following international standards,” a journalist said.

Representatives of the Russian press also visited the offices of the Maipu and Dundjan Companies, and the Chengdu-Europe high-speed railway, as reporters were interested in Szechuan not only as tourists and culturologists, but also as economists – the journalists wanted to show their readers and audiences that Chengdu was a city with a powerful industrial and economic potential.
