Zeman promises possible lifting of sanctions by end of 2015

Anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the EU can be lifted by the end of 2015, as the situation in the Donbass can be considered as satisfactory, Czech President Milos Zeman said.

"I hope that the situation in Eastern Ukraine, where there is virtually no civil war now, is satisfactory. I'll even add that sanctions may be completely lifted and, perhaps, even by the end of this year," Kommersant cited him as saying.

"I think that all official acts of the Russian politicians today confirm that there will be no invasion into Eastern Ukraine," he explained.
