ICC can investigate IS crimes in Libya
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Fatou Bensouda, told the UN Security Council that the ICC can investigate crimes by Islamic State militants in Libya.
"My office considers that ICC jurisdiction over Libya extends to such alleged crimes. I recall however the principle that states, in the first instance, bear the primary responsibility to investigate and prosecute their nationals who have joined forces with Islamic State and are alleged to be committing crimes," TASS cited her as saying.
"I repeat my call to all sides of the conflict to refrain from targeting civilians or civilian objects, as well as other crimes which might fall under the ICC," the prosecutor said.
