Iran's navy fires on commercial tanker

An Iranian patrol boat has opened fire on a Singapore-flagged oil tanker.

 

The incident took place a little south of the island of Abu Musa inside the Gulf. The MT Alpine Eternity tanker refused to move into Iranian waters. After firing warning shots the Iranians opened machinegun fire. The US official said no one on board the ship was injured.The tanker headed towards the territorial waters of the United Arab Emirates and requested help. The UAE responded and the Iranian patrol vessels left the area
