Syrian refugees were attacked by a mob of disgruntled locals in Turkey’s southeastern province of Şanlıurfa.

The activists intended to organize a protest, but the authorities did not give authorization to carry it out, so the group organized the attack via social media.

As a result, the group attacked the Syrians with a knife, stabbing one and badly beating the other two. 23 people were taken into custody.

Turkey has spent $5.5 billion on 1.9 million refugees from Syria, RIA Novosti reports.
