Morsi trial over espionage resumed

Today the Cairo criminal court will resume the trial of former president Mohamed Morsi and 10 others on charges of espionage and treason.

According to prosecutors, the defendants are accused of handing over to the Qatari intelligence services documents linked to national security, in particular, using the staff of the Qatari Al Jazeera channel.Earlier, the Egyptian court requested the opinion of the supreme mufti of the country on the possibility of the death penalty in another case of espionage and escape from prison. The court will pronounce its final decision on June 2.
