The deputy head of the press service of the US State Department, Marie Harf, said the United States supports "the EU's efforts to build closer cooperation and partnership with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine."

"We are committed to supporting further initiatives to ensure the promotion of democracy and the quality of public administration, fight against corruption, the strengthening of the energy security, economic and social development of the member countries of the Eastern Partnership," Tass quotes her.

Harf accused Russia of pressure and misinformation. Washington's intention to support the initiatives of the EU in relation to the participants in the Eastern Partnership "are particularly important during the amplification of Russian pressure on the region and spreading disinformation in it," the US diplomat said.
