Former French President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing said that the current situation in the relations between Russia and the European Union have a negative effect on their economic situations.

"We need to put an end to tense moments to stop living in an atmosphere of tension and criticism. To live in such a climate is counterproductive, it is bad for Russia, and for Europe," TASS cited him as saying.

According to d'Estaing, such a situation has a bad effect on the economic situations of both parties. "This hinders the development of economic relations between the parties. This situation must be ended."
