Kazakhstan needs to broaden the powers of parliament and government, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said during a meeting with the heads of delegations of the CIS member states.

"Probably, the government and parliament should be given a bigger say. We have strong presidential power, as you know, there is a serious vertical. But as our middle class grows, it [presidential power] should probably be reduced, the government should be given an opportunity to work independently, and parliament ought to receive broader powers," TASS cited him as saying.
