Medvedev appoints Volodin head of chief of staff

Medvedev has signed a decree appointing Volodin Vice-Premier, head of the chief of staff, RIA Novosti reports.


Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin has been the Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma of the Federal Council since December 2007, deputy head of United Russia fraction, members of the committee for civil, criminal, appeal and procedural law. Volodin was a deputy of the Russian State Duma of the third (1999-2003) and fourth (2003-2007) callings and Secretary of the Presidium of the General Council of United Russia party.


Vyacheslav Volodin was born on February 4, 1964 in Alexeyevka village in Khvalyn area of Saratov region. He graduated at Saratov Institute of Mechanization of Agriculture of Kalinin in 1986, he had post-graduate studies at the institute. He graduated at the Russian Academy of State Service at the Russian President in 1995. He is a PhD in technical sciences and a PhD in Law.
