UN plans to reach truce in Yemen by June 18

The special adviser to the UN Secretary General on Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, has expressed his hope that a new "humanitarian truce" will be announced in Yemen by mid-June.

According to the pan-Arab newspaper Al-Sharq al-Awsat, Sheikh Ahmed is aiming for the new truce to be announced before the beginning of Ramadan," i.e. by June 18.
