Tbilisi plans to decrease CO2 emissions by 20%

Over 2,000 cities and 10 partner countries have joined the Covenant of Mayors.Tbilisi was the first capital of the countries participating in the Eastern Partnership Program of the EU to sign the Covenant of Mayors. It intends to decrease CO2 emissions by 20% by 2020. CO2 emissions from transport are much higher in the Georgian capital than in Europe, but there are fewer emissions from energy plants.
"To reduce harm to the environment we are planning to return electric transport to Tbilisi," Tbilisi mayor Gigi Ugulava said.
