Azerenergy will finish the reconstruction of high voltage power lines from Mingyachevir to Azerbaijani border with Georgia in late 2011, the head of Azerenergy Etibar Pirverdiyev said. The work will be carried out within the framework of the energy bridge between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, Trend reports.

Azerbaijan may start electricity exports in May 2012 to Georgia and Turkey. Georgian minister of energy said earlier that Georgia has already started construction of the high voltage power line. Its construction to Azerbaijani border will be completed at the end of this year, and to Turkey in early 2012.

Pirverdiyev said that that Nakhchyvan autonomy of Azerbaijan is currently blockaded due to Armenia's occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani territory. The autonomy is exporting electricity to Turkey and Iran. It used to import electricity.
