Tskhinvali youth policy
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaRecently in South Ossetia, as well as in Russia, the forming of youth policy has been been discussed. As for the former Georgian province it is a discussion about youth orientation to Ossetian national traditions.
So far Tskhinvali speaks about the loss of moral guidelines. The pro-rector of the South Ossetian State University Dzhulietta Ostayeva blames social institutions which do not work properly: "The main social institutions are family (responsible for a person entering an independent life) and education institutions. If they do not work normally, morality deteriorates.
The chairman of the South Ossetian department of the International Supreme Council of Ossetian Robert Gagloyti calls the main problem of the society the loss of the native language: "Speaking about native language, we should remember that a nation without their own language has no national attribute". He thinks that the most of youth does not care about moral norms and other parts of the "Ossetianness". They should get back to studying and work. We should make a joint list of actions against prostitution, alcoholism and drugs. Drug abuse has indeed become a big problem in South Ossetia. However, according to the deputy interior minister of South Ossetia Vitaly Gassiyev, it is impossible to get hard drugs like heroin in the republic now. This year the Ossetian parliament passed law prescribing criminal liability for any activities with poppy seeds often used as drug. Another adopted law against drugs abuse is to get into operation from January, 2011. "Disguised as drug addicts workers of the law-enforcement agencies haven't managed to get any drugs recently as there are no drug dealers in South Ossetia any longer," Gassiyev said. However the Ossetians learned to grow drugs themselves. The public figures of South Ossetia propose to fight against social problems by several methods. On the television a course of lectures on youth problems with participation of main figures of culture, science and sports should be organized. Traditions and rituals must be taught at school. Children and youth organizations, clubs of national dances and songs, handicrafts should be founded.Pavel Martynov. Exclusively for VK.
