Russia demands investigation into attack on consulate general in Kharkov
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation urges Kiev to thoroughly investigate an attack on the Russian consulate in Kharkiv.
"On June 11 during a reception on the occasion of Russia Day, a group of vandals, with the connivance of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, attacked the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Kharkov. As a result, the national emblem of the Russian Federation was desecrated and the building sustained considerable damage. By that, the Ukrainian side once again grossly violated its international commitments under the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations," Interfax cited the ministry.
"The Russian side demands that the Ukrainian side conduct a thorough investigation into what happened, find and punish the participants of thia disgraceful provocation and those who ordered it, and compensate for the damage inflicted," the ministry said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs "highly assessed the professional and deeply humane act of the representatives of various international organizations working in Kharkov, who were in the Consulate General’s building at the moment of the attack and voiced readiness to leave it only with veterans and other reception participants."
