The mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, has said that the environmental situation in the Ukrainian capital is not a threat to residents.

"The environmental situation in Kiev is not a threat to the inhabitants of the city. We will objectively inform the people of Kiev," Klitschko said, citing research into the capital's epidemiological situation.

According to him, "today the situation has improved compared to what it was a few days ago." In particular, exceeding the standards of harmful substances in the air by 2-4 times has been recorded in two districts of the capital.

"The situation is not alarming. Nevertheless, Kiev residents suffering from respiratory diseases should limit their exposure to the open air,’’  TASS quotes the mayor.
