The Russian secret services uncovered a network  of overseas money deliveries to militants operating in the North Caucasus, RIA Novosti reports, citing a senior official of one of the security services.

"Russian intelligence services have information that over the past few months large funds to carry out terrorist activities were transferred in the North Caucasus from abroad through various channels. The main beneficiaries of this money are the leaders of the militants, who distribute the funds. Among the recipients is Doku Umarov," a spokesman said.

According to him, the secret services managed to block the number of channels through which money was sent to the militants. "But it is not yet possible to fully isolate the problem. This is largely due to the fact that the majority of funding goes through shell banks," the spokesman said.
