Does OSCE need reform?
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaPresident of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier spoke about the need to strengthen the role of the OSCE in the conflict in the south-east of Ukraine.
"We would like to see greater involvement of the OSCE and its role in the normalization of the situation in Ukraine," Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian leader said that Belarus advocates for ‘’definitely strengthening of the role of the OSCE, for such a reform of the organization that would considerably strengthen its role."
He reminded that Belarus, together with other countries in the post-Soviet space, "at one time offered its vision of this process." "But, unfortunately, it is either being studied, or it is being blocked by individual states," Lukashenko said.
There is a difficult situation in the OSCE, because "at our disposal there is much less freedom of action." "This is not a crisis of the organization, but a crisis of the entire structure of the security architecture," Lamberto Zannier responded to Lukashenko.
