Anna Kornetskaya and Dmitry Ushakov: The atmosphere in Baku is like at the Olympic Games
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaCompetitions of trampolining among men and women have ended in Baku today in the framework of the First European Games. Russian athletes won gold in all four disciplines.
Anna Kornetskaya and Yana Pavlova (46.4 points) won gold. Athletes from France Marina Zhurber and Joel Valles (44.6) came second. The bronze medal was won by the representatives of Portugal, Anne Rente and Beatrice Martins (44.5).
In an interview for Vestnik Kavkaza Anna Kornetskaya noted that the competitions are considered very grand-scale for us. They were all strong competitors: Belarus, Ukraine and England. Jana and I started training in synchronized trampoline a week before the European Games. It was hard at first, because I was a little bit weaker. After training, we were able to prepare for these competitions.
If we compare the European Gammes with the European Championship, these competitions are familiar. It is hard and difficult to perform there, but the atmosphere in Baku is very similar to the Olympic Games, which adds adrenaline and cheerfulness. Our mood was more serious than at the European Championships.
Mikhail Melnik and Dmitry Ushakov (51.1 points) won gold. Belorussian athletes Nikolay Kazak and Vladislav Goncharov (50.8) came second. The third place was taken by the representatives of Germany and Kirill Gromov Martin Sonne (48.8).
Mikhail Melnik spoke that ''we started to train two weeks before the Baku 2015 European Games. And during those two weeks we managed to prepare well as we took the first place. Today our performance was successful.''
''I am extremely happy that today in the individual events we were successful. We made a good combination. It was exciting. The level of competition and the level of organization are like at the Olympic Games. There was such an atmosphere like at the Olympic Games. Well, I know this atmosphere. Maybe, it helps me here,'' spoke Mikhail Melnik for Vestnik Kavkaza.
