Russian swimmers share impressions of performance at European Games

Maria Astashkin, winner of a gold medal in swimming at the First European Games in Baku, said in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza that her competitors were very strong. The performance at the Games is her best result in the 50m swim. She trained for the European Games in Armenia.
Astashkina is planning to win the 100m swim in Kazan. The athlete admitted that she had had surgery and missed 1.5 months of training and the World Championship.
Daniil Pakhomov, bronze winner in Men's 50m Butterfly, is very happy with his results. He lost to Ukraine's Andrei Khloptsov. Pakhomov is yet to test his skills in Men's 100m and 200m Butterfly. The athlete expressed amazement at the swimming pool where the competition was held. In his words, the Athletes' Village had unprecedentedly many foreigners.
Andrei Khloptsov was very happy with his progress. He praised the organizers of the European Games for the food and accommodation.
