10 sets of medals to be played for on thirteenth day of First European Games

Today in Baku the thirteenth day of the European Games has started, during which competitions will be held in badminton, basketball, beach soccer, boxing, fencing, swimming and volleyball.


Today the athletes will contend for 10 medal sets: two sets in fencing (women’s individual epee and men's individual sabre) and 8 sets in swimming (100 and 200m backstroke, 1500m freestyle among men and 200m butterfly, 100 and 400m freestyle, 200m backstroke and 4x100m medley relay among women).


The semifinal competitions in boxing is the key event of the day. Bator Sagaluev (Russia) and Muhammed Unlu (Turkey), Dmitro Zamotaev (Ukraine) and Brendan Irvine (Ireland) will compete in the semifinals in men's light flyweight (up to 49 kg). Bakhtovar Nazirov (Russia) and Tayfur Aliyev (Azerbaijan), Dimitri Asanov (Belarus) and Qais Ashfaq (UK) will fight in the category up to 56 kg. Pavel Silyagin (Russia) and Teymur Mammadov (Azerbaijan), Oleksandr Hyzhnyak (Ukraine) and Valentino Manfredonia (Italy) will meet in the category up to 81 kg.


Sayana Sagataeva (Russia) and Sandra Drabik (Poland), Nicola Adams (Great Britain) and Elif Coskun (Turkey) will compete in the semifinals in the category up to 51 kg among women. Lydia Fidura (Poland) and Anna Laurel Nash (Sweden), Nouchka Fontijn (Netherlands) and Sarah Scheurich (Germany) will fight in the category up to 75 kg.


The volleyball marathon of the First European games is also coming to an end, today holding the quarterfinals of the men's teams that will determine contenders for medals in the sport. The Russian team will have to beat the French to reach the semi-finals. Poland and Slovakia, Turkey and Bulgaria, Serbia and Germany are also playing volleyball for a podium place.
