The state of emergency imposed on the city of Sochi after the recent flood has been extended until 6 July.

"This decision was taken due to the fact that some Sochi residents are still in temporary accommodation in hotels and sanatoriums of the resort. And the city can finance their living there only during the period of the state of emergency," the press service of the city administration said.

"The main work has been completed. But some areas remain, emphasis is being placed on the riverbed of the River Sochi in particular. And we need a state of emergency to carry out this work without coordination with the various agencies," Yuga.ru cited the message of the city administration.

Earlier, the Acting Governor of Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev, said that the state of emergency in Sochi will be lifted on 30 June.
