NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Russia and the West are not in a state of a new Cold War.

"We are not in the state of a new Cold War. Then there was the Warsaw Pact and NATO. It was a global conflict, it was a confrontation between two ideologies," he stressed.

According to the secretary general, "it is necessary to keep a balance between the analysis of the situation and a description of the threats to NATO countries." "We should not exaggerate the dangers or dramatize the situation. We do not see an immediate threat, because NATO is the most powerful defense alliance of all time. And at the same time, we are dealing with a self-confident Russia, which violates international law," TASS cited Stoltenberg as saying.

"Today we are facing new threats. Islamic State, violence and conflicts in Iraq, Syria, North Africa," the Secretary General of NATO concluded.
