The Deputy of the Friendship Group France-Caucasus of the French Senate, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Senate, Nathalie Goulet, has asked the government of France a question in connection with the visit to France of the president of the unrecognized NKR Bako Sahakyan.
Goulet asked a representative of the government the following question: "There are a number of frozen conflicts in the Caucasus, one of which is the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
In May, 'the president' of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic made an 'official' visit to France, during which a 'friendly Charter' was signed with the Department of Drome and the nearby towns. This self-proclaimed republic hasn’t been recognized by any country, even Armenia. Being a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, France plays an important diplomatic role in resolving the conflict. The signing of these charters not only oppose the official position of France, but also the principles of international law. This just supports the fact of occupation. You cannot sign any document,’’ she said.
