Azerbaijan and Iran are discussing the joint implementation of a number of important projects in the spheres of trade and energy, Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen said.
He stressed that Azerbaijan has never participated in the sanctions against Iran, which is a positive development in relations between the two countries.
According to him, in recent years the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan have been developing rapidly and the lifting of sanctions will allow these relations to develop even further.
The priority issue in the transit sector is the completion of construction of the Rasht-Astara railway line. "I hope that our countries will cooperate even more closely in this regard for the prompt completion of the construction of the railway," Pak Ayeen said.
The diplomat noted that Iran also intends to expand energy ties with Azerbaijan. Pak Ayeen also said that Iran has expressed interest in gas projects such as TAP and TANAP.
The diplomat noted that Azerbaijan's Economy and Industry Minister Shahin Mustafayev is expected to visit Iran in August this year. "In August, we expect the visit of a delegation headed by the Minister of Economy and Industry of Azerbaijan to Iran. The delegation will include representatives of various sectors of the economy, as well as the private sector," he said.
The Ambassador also touched upon cooperation in the sphere of nuclear development. "We believe that every country has the right to use nuclear power for peaceful purposes. We are ready to cooperate in this field with any country, including Azerbaijan," the diplomat said.
