Baku branch of MSU holds graduation ceremony 2015

The gala evening was attended by Russian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Vladimir Dorokhin, the head of the department on work with foreign students of Moscow State University, Dmitry Georgievsky, the rector of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Viktor Sadovnichy, the Director of the Nizami Ganjavi Scientific Center of Azerbaijan and Caucasian Studies at the University of Oxford, Professor Robert Hoyland, Cambridge University's Dr. Sarah Weidler, the acting dean of the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Moscow State University, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Vladimir Chubarikov, as well as leading professors of Moscow State University and its Baku branch.
The rector of the Baku branch of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, the director of the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad and Doctor of Philology, Professor Nargiz Pashayeva, addressed the event.
Pashayeva congratulated the guests, teachers, students and parents. "I believe that the time of being a student is the best time of the whole life. All of us – your parents, your teachers – have worried and waited for this day. We were students just like you, we hurried time, counted the days and hours before the holidays," Nargiz Pashayeva said.
She also emphasized the role of parents in a student's life. She expressed gratitude to the professors of Moscow State University and thanked the staff of the Baku branch. Pashayeva wished all the graduates the greatest achievements in life, to become brilliant experts in their fields – chemistry, mathematics, philology and psychology. She again congratulated the graduates and wished them good health, personal and professional happiness.
The awarding ceremony was then held.
The head of the department on work with foreign students of Moscow State University, Dmitry Georgievsky, congratulated the graduates on behalf of the Rector of the Moscow State University, academician Viktor Sadovnichy.
He congratulated the Baku branch on another bright class of graduates, and wished success to the young professionals in their path of life.
The Russian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Vladimir Dorokhin, in his turn, said the relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are expressed not only in volume of trade, not only in military-political programs, international consultations, humanitarian actions, but also in the transferring and receiving of knowledge – the most valuable thing for mankind.
The rector of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Viktor Sadovnichy, assessed the graduation ceremony day of 2015 as symbolic, as it occurs between the two competitions – one of which was the first European Games, and the other which will be the International Chemistry Olympiad.
Then the university students gave a concert. The concert program included the famous Azerbaijani singer and composer EMIN and the Azerbaijani singer and participant in Eurovision 2012, Sabina Babayeva, who performed at the concert for the students.
This year the Baku branch graduated 90 bachelor's and 27 master's degrees.
