Land of Fire impresses French resort with fireworks
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Azerbaijan Culture Days organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation are continuing in Cannes. Until the end of July, the residents and numerous visitors of the city will be able to look at Azerbaijani art, listen to the national music, compare the traditions and modernity of Azerbaijan. One of the highlights was the participation of the Baku group of fireworks in the traditional Cannes 'Festival of Pyrotechnic Art'.
Poland, France, England and Argentina, along with Azerbaijan, are participating in the fireworks competition "Art of Fireworks," which will last until August 24.
Pyrotechnics from the Land of Fire staged a show with music of Azerbaijani composers Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Fikret Amirov, Gara Garayev, Tofig Guliyev, Muslum Magomayev, Alakbar Tagiyev and outstanding master of mugham Alim Gasimov.
This event was an organic continuation of the 'Evening of Azerbaijani music', at which the vice-mayor of Cannes, the president of the Cannes Palais des Festivals et des Congrès Ann Rex, said that for the third time the culture and art of Azerbaijan are being presented in her city at a very high level, which is of great interest to residents and guests of Cannes. Musical works of ethno-jazz style sounded in a concert with the participation of popular jazzman, pianist Emil Afrasiyab and his jazz band, as well as Azerbaijani masters of arts.
The fireworks display amazed even the experienced audience. Millions of decorative lights of various colors and shapes leaped over the Promenade de la Croisette, introduced in the Universal Heritage List of France, which connects the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès with Cape Palm Beach. Even in ancient times great importance was attached to fire. It was used as a tool for communication, and as a warning of danger, and for decorating various rituals and sacred rites. In many cultures there are traditions associated with the use of campfires, candles, torches, which have become the prototypes for fireworks. A special meaning is attached to this art in the Land of Fire.
