Prime Minister of Kalmykia appointed

44-year-old Oleg Kichikov has been appointed Prime Minister of
Kalmykia, Interfax reports.

The corresponding decree has been signed by the head of Kalmykia,
Alexei Orlov, according to the Steppe Code (Constitution) of the
Republic, as well as to the regional law “On the head of Kalmykia”,
the press-service of the head of the regional administration reported
today.

It was announced at an extraordinary session on Thursday that the
members of the People's Great Hural (parliament) of Kalmykia have
consented to Kichikov’s appointment as prime minister of the region by
the head of the republic.

Kichikov was appointed chairman of the Government of the Republic on
the 4th of May 2010. Before that he served as the Deputy Director
General of the state corporation "Fund for reforming housing and
communal services of Russia." From the 24th of October Kichikov has
been occupying the post of acting Prime Minister in the government of
Alexei Orlov.
