Islamic State leaves Palmyra

Militants of the terrorist organization Islamic State have left the suburb of Palmyra after mass air strikes and ground operations of the Syrian army and militias. The majority of the heights around ancient Palmyra are under the control of the army.

According to RIA Novosti, Syrian servicemen are gradually winnning Palmyra back from IS. On July 8th they began their offensive, advancing 11 kilometers a day into the front.
