The Government of Kazakhstan will pay for the flight of the astronaut Aydin Aimbetov to the International Space Station in 2016, the Deputy Chairman of the Aerospace Committee of the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan (Kazkosmos), Erkin Shaymagambetov, said.

According to Shaymagambetov, they are considering various options, including "the possibility of payment through the cost of the rent for Baikonur." "This issue is currently under discussion by the government," Interfax cited the representative of Kazkosmos as saying.

The Kazakh cosmonaut's flight to ISS is set to cost Kazakhstan $20 million.
