PKK mine explodes, killing Turkish militants

A car has been blown up by a mine planted by militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), resulting in one Turkish soldier killed and eight injured. The explosion was followed by a shootout in the southeastern province of Mardin, the newspaper Sabah reports.

The militants have attacked the Kirkuk-Ceyhan oil pipeline, shooting its security officers who called for reinforcements. One of the military vehicles going to rescue them hit a mine planted by the militants, after which gunfire started,  RIA Novosti reports.
