A stone-sculpted head of Medusa has been unearthed by US and Turkish archaeologists during excavations in the ancient city of Antiocheia Ad Cragum in the southern province of Antalya’s Gazipaşa district.

The Medusa is an ancient icon that remains one of the most popular figures of Greek mythology. Medusa figures have been found among fragments of columns and walls.

When the excavation is finished it will be delivered to the Alanya Cultural Directorate.
