Mogherini: women of indigenous peoples should have more rights

The head of European diplomacy, Federica Mogherini, on the occasion of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, stated that the EU is ready to work closely with indigenous peoples in different regions of the world in an effort to ensure equal guarantees of human rights.

She believes that despite many positive examples of progress around the world, indigenous peoples, especially women and girls, continue to be subjected to multiple forms of discrimination, experience vulnerability and marginalization in their lives. "Therefore, we seek to expand their rights," gazeta.ru quotes her as saying.

Mogherini also confirmed the EU's support for the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
