Train service between Sochi airport and Adler to start in December

between Adler and the airport of Sochi in December 2011, ahead of
schedule, President of the company Vladimir Yakunin said during a
visit by the Board of Directors in Sochi, RIA Novosti reports.
Yakunin clarified that the decision to launch the train service ahead
of schedule was due to the request of the Sochi mayor and the Olympic
Committee to solve the transport problems in Sochi.
Adler and the airport of Sochi are currently connected by a highway.
Russian Railways will build a 2.8-kilometre railroad line.
The railroad will transport 60% of all air passengers arriving for the
Winter Olympic Games in 2014 (over 86,000 people daily). There will be
high-speed electric trains.
The project is worth an estimated 7.9 billion rubles.
