Major reshuffle in Turkmenistan

A personnel reshuffle has been announced in the Turkmenistan government. The relevant decrees and resolutions were signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during an enlarged session of the Government.

Murad Artikov has been dismissed of the post of the deputy chairman of the Cabinet and appointed as the Head of the Department of Energy of Turkmenistan for the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Artikov was in charge of energy, construction and public utilities in the government.

Vice Prime Minister Shamuhammet Durdylyev has been dismissed from the post of chief of staff of the Presidential Administration and the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. The head of state has instructed Durdylyevu to control the issues of energy, construction and municipal services, Turkmenistan.ru reports.

Deputy Prime Minister Palvan Taganov has been appointed to the post of chief of staff of the Presidential Administration and the Government.

The new governor (mayor) of Ashgabat became Myratniyaz Abilov, who worked as the head of the administration of one of the districts of the city. Now the former mayor Redzhepgeldi Nurmammedov, who held the post since January 2013, has been dismissed for shortcomings in his work. Checks of the Supreme Chamber of Control of Turkmenistan revealed shortcomings in the work on the improvement of the capital.
