Steinmeier concerned over worsening of situation in Donbas

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has expressed his concern over the worsening  of the situation in the east of Ukraine and urged both sides to hold negotiations in order to avoid its further escalation.

"The level of threat is high enough. If both sides don’t hold negotiations, a new round of military escalation can be started at any time", RBK cites his interview for Bild am Sonntag. 

The diplomat recalled that during the talks with his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts Sergey Lavrov and Pavel Klimkin they urged Kiev and the militia to hold negotiations with representatives of the OSCE as soon as possible to in order to relax the situation in the region.
