We do not recognize Nagorno-Karabakh regime and their 'elections', German Foreign Ministry stated
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaFollowing the co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group from the United States James Warlick, who stated that his country does not recognize the so-called 'parliamentary elections' in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Government of Germany expressed its opinion on this subject. Responding to a request from Vestnik Kavkaza, the press service of the German Foreign Ministry stated that "the federal government does not recognize the de-facto regime in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the elections that were held there." Thus, another attempt at state staging made by the Karabakh separatists has no chance of impressing the Berlin authorities.
At the state level, Germany pursues a consistent policy of non-recognition of the 'NKR', constantly confirming this position in various documents. For example, last fall the German Government, in its reply to a parliamentary request by the 'Left' faction, also refuted statements about self-sufficiency of the 'NKR' Defense Army. That time, German government reported that the 'self-defense forces' of the so-called 'Nagorno Karabakh Republic' have 23 thousand soldiers. "Of them, 8 thousand soldiers are regular troops of the Republic of Armenia " the German government's response stated.
In the last, 11th report of the Federal Government of Germany on its human rights policy in the world, it is also stated that "Armenia is responsible for the situation of human rights on territories, which under international law belong to Azerbaijan, including Nagorno-Karabakh, which Armenia has occupied since the armistice in 1994."
