Government of Adjara may suffer from Armenophobia

Nine non-governmental human rights organizations have asked the Georgian government to condemn and punish the city authorities of the Adjarian city of Khulo.

A document published on the website of the city reveals signs of hatred toward Armenians and incitement of ethnic tension, Epress.am reports.

The document specifically refers to former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili as being Armenian himself, not in a positive light. “That Armenian Sahak has so much brains to follow Zurab Zhvania murder case from distance,” reads the document.  The document was adopted on behalf of the Khulo Municipality’s Georgian Dream political party.

The organizations have urged the ruling coalition government to investigate the document and inform the representatives of the party in the region about possible sanctions.
