Palestinian flag to be raised above UN headquarters

The UN General Assembly voted on a draft resolution that would raise the flags of countries that have observer status.

The Palestinian Authority was the initiator of this resolution. 19 countries voted in favor of the resolution, including Russia and Azerbaijan.

The United States, Israel, Canada and Australia voted against. 45 countries abstained.
