The situation with power shortages in Georgia is getting worse every year, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of the Republic Kakha Kaladze said.

"We are trying to resolve all the problems. We have a very severe shortage of electricity, which is growing every year. On the one hand, we can only welcome the fact that power consumption is increasing, as it means that the economy is developing. However, on the other hand, from the energy point of view, it is very a painful problem for us,’’ Georgia Online cites him as saying.

In this regard, Kaladze stressed the need to realize all the planned hydropower projects. In his opinion, they won’t only help solve the problem, but will also turn Georgia into an exporter of electricity.
