Answering a question from Vestnik Kavkaza, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Azerbaijan and Russia are now actively developing bilateral ties.

"We value our relations with Azerbaijan as dynamically developing. Azerbaijan is our partner not only in the political, but in the economic and also other spheres. A very active dialogue is developing at all levels: from the highest level, the level of Foreign Ministers to humanitarian ties,’’ she explained.

"Therefore, we can only say that we hope that the level of relations will continue to develop," Maria Zakharova said.

She also noted that Russia hopes for an early settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as a mediator country. Russia will do everything to achieve this aim.

"As for the Nagorno-Karabakh situation, Russia is actively involved in the settlement process. We are very important participants in this peace process. Therefore, we proceed from what we are doing. We will take all the necessary steps in order to settle the conflict as quickly as possible,’’ Maria Zakharova noted.
