Lavrov: Assad’s dismissal won’t save the region from terrorism

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said the idea that Assad’s dismissal could solve all the problems in Syria is wrong.

"Our partners have a choice to continue to insist that only President Assad’s dismissal will save the region from the threat of terrorism. I think that nobody should be convinced of this utopian idea.  We should start cooperating with all those who are sincerely interested in preventing the collapse of this historically priceless region,’’ RIA Novosti reports.

The minister underlined the inadmissibility of non-cooperation in the salvation of the region due to "some short-term, external or internal policy problems."
