Russia ready to discuss Syria with the US

‘‘Representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry are ready to negotiate with US officials in order to discuss the situation in Syria,’’ the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said today.

"We have never refused to resume a dialogue with the United States based on issues of mutual interest, including Syria," RIA Novosti cites Maria Zakharova.

US President Barack Obama also said that in the near future he expects to hold military talks with Russia on Syria, Reuters reports with reference to US State Secretary John Kerry.

"The president hopes that talks between Russia and the US military will be the most important step if they take place in the very near future,’’ John Kerry said.
