Rouhani: The slogan ‘Death to America!’ doesn’t call for violence

After the signing of the nuclear deal, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has commented in his first foreign interview on the old slogan ‘Death to America!’.

"Our people have a respectful attitude towards the American people. The Iranian nation doesn’t seek war with anyone," he said.

Rouhani underlined that these words should be considered as a political protest, not as a call for violence, Interfax reports.

Recall that the slogan ‘Death to America!’ appeared in 1979 after the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
